That's really a shame, because God obviously intended that breast feeding be the norm and not the exception. While some circumstances may dictate that formula must be used instead, this should be done only as a last resort. Motherhood is truly a beautiful wonder to behold, and we should embrace it to the greatest possible extent. Perhaps babies fed with formula won't keel over and die immediately, but breast-fed babies have to have significant advantages over others.
